Clinical Psychologist
A comprehensive, science-backed program
to build and sustain a self caring life.
If this sounds like you, then you are in the right place. Mastering the Habit of Self Care will provide a step-by-step path to better understand your personal roadblocks, to develop the insight and skills you might be missing, and to make a sustainable change plan. Even better, you'll get 12 weeks of live (Zoom, of course) Q&A time with Dr. King and fellow students to give you support and troubleshooting tips as you make your self-caring plans a reality.
I take a broad view of self care and see it as:
The goal of this course is to help you determine what it means to be self caring in your own life - and to help you make that happen.
My goal is not to get you to comply with the kind of self care that works for me or anyone else. There will be no pressure to do more yoga, get massages, meditate, or anything else that is not your thing. You will be supported in figuring out and implementing your thing.
My "secret sauce" as a teacher is blending sound psychological expertise (no "woo" here) with sincere caring, warmth, and a twist of humor. I am upbeat and compassionate without sacrificing the deeper inquiry that leads to transformational change. I like to be clear, direct, and precise in my teaching, and I get super jazzed when my students show up with lots of challenging questions.
As a therapist, I have helped people make a lot of hard changes in their lives. I love getting into the weeds with a juicy challenge and finding creative and pragmatic ways to take what I know and turn it into insights you can use in your daily life.

This program is structured in three phrases. Phase one starts before most other behavior change programs, diving deep into the personal obstacles and challenges that make it hard to be self-caring. You'll learn foundational skills here which you'll then expand on as you leap into action in phase two, and get ready to take flight back into the world.
I'm from Boston and have a little "Tellin'-it-like-it-is" streak at times. So here's some straight talk:
That's not a problem, or anything to get down about. It's crazy to think we'd all be able to magically figure out what people like me spend years in graduate school trying to understand. Thankfully, I've put together all I've learned as a psychologist as well as a bunch of hacks and skills I've picked up along the way. I was teetering on the edge of burnout myself not too many years ago, and I had to develop my own self care habits before it got the better of me.
Let me show you how to do it.
If you sign up for the course and discover it's not for you, no problem. You have until January 15th to get a full refund.
