Who this is really for...

You are super committed to helping and caring for others. On good days, it lights you up inside and feels like what you were born to do.

On bad days (and maybe there's more and more of those) you wonder if there will ever be time or space for your own needs.

You probably already know the "how" and "why" of self care - maybe you even sat through some trainings about it before - but you aren't doing it. You aren't practicing what you preach. You don't have the time, the motivation, the something, to make it happen.

You are looking for a deeper and more personal approach than the usual self care platitudes.

You're motivated to do the work to finally make your better self care habits stick.

If this sounds like you, then you are in the right place. Mastering the Habit of Self Care will provide a step-by-step path to better understand your personal roadblocks, to develop the insight and skills you might be missing, and to make a sustainable change plan. Even better, you'll get 12 weeks of live (Zoom, of course) Q&A time with Dr. King and fellow students to give you support and troubleshooting tips as you make your self-caring plans a reality.

What does "self care" even mean?

I take a broad view of self care and see it as:

  • a way of being and living (not just a task on the to-do list)
  • a way of relating to ourselves and others
  • framework for making decisions
  • a set of actions that will be unique to each person

The goal of this course is to help you determine what it means to be self caring in your own life - and to help you make that happen.

My goal is not to get you to comply with the kind of self care that works for me or anyone else. There will be no pressure to do more yoga, get massages, meditate, or anything else that is not your thing. You will be supported in figuring out and implementing your thing.

We all know self care is important.

Most of us even know what to do.

but

Are you doing it?

My mission is to get you there.

By the end of this program...

  • You will understand the personal blocks that keep you from engaging in self care, and what to do about them.

Most of us have things going on beneath the surface that stop us from taking care of ourselves. Little haunting fears, concerns, doubts, insecurities, that block us on the way to action. This program provides exercises to uncover these struggles for yourself, and offers tips to start unraveling them.
  • You will approach goal-setting and habit change from a whole new perspective, and be more effective as a result.

We are going way beyond "just do it" and all the other admonitions, exhortations, shallow cheerleading, or fear-mongering that you see in other habit change programs. That stuff just doesn't work (otherwise, hello, you'd be doing it, right??). In this program, you will learn the essential psychological science behind behavior change from a real psychologist who will also help you make these principles work in your own life.
  • You will create a thoughtful plan of what an integrated, self caring life means to you.

Say goodbye to other people's ideas of what "self care" is supposed to look like. In this program, you'll do some deep reflection on what really matters to you and then build plans for a self caring life from that stable foundation.
  • You will get the chance to implement your self care habits, fall off the wagon, get back on again, and probably repeat this a bunch of times over our 12 weeks together. What's different? You will learn something every time instead of just giving up or getting down on yourself.

This program is a no-failure zone. Every stumble is just another opportunity to learn, to reassess, and to create a new plan to try next time. With the expertise of Dr. King and the wisdom of a group of fellow students, we can make this happen.
  • You will learn strategies to keep yourself on track, adjust course whenever needed, and never lose track of your self care again.

At the end of this program, you'll have all you need to keep going on your own through all the curveballs life might offer down the line. You will learn essential skills to check in on yourself (with care and self-compassion) on a weekly, monthly, and/or yearly basis.

Katherine King, PsyD, Clinical Psychologist

My "secret sauce" as a teacher is blending sound psychological expertise (no "woo" here) with sincere caring, warmth, and a twist of humor. I am upbeat and compassionate without sacrificing the deeper inquiry that leads to transformational change. I like to be clear, direct, and precise in my teaching, and I get super jazzed when my students show up with lots of challenging questions.

As a therapist, I have helped people make a lot of hard changes in their lives. I love getting into the weeds with a juicy challenge and finding creative and pragmatic ways to take what I know and turn it into insights you can use in your daily life.

What's In the Program?

This program is structured in three phrases. Phase one starts before most other behavior change programs, diving deep into the personal obstacles and challenges that make it hard to be self-caring. You'll learn foundational skills here which you'll then expand on as you leap into action in phase two, and get ready to take flight back into the world.

I'm from Boston and have a little "Tellin'-it-like-it-is" streak at times. So here's some straight talk:

If you could achieve your
self care goals on your own,
you probably already would have.

That's not a problem, or anything to get down about. It's crazy to think we'd all be able to magically figure out what people like me spend years in graduate school trying to understand. Thankfully, I've put together all I've learned as a psychologist as well as a bunch of hacks and skills I've picked up along the way. I was teetering on the edge of burnout myself not too many years ago, and I had to develop my own self care habits before it got the better of me.
Let me show you how to do it.

100% Money Back Guarantee.

If you sign up for the course and discover it's not for you, no problem. You have until January 15th to get a full refund.
